Finding the Other Missing Peace
By Robyn Johnson
In the world that we live in, it is hard to find security in anything we do, be it our careers, financial security or education. Those insecurities in life are what lead us as a people to search for our purpose on earth and meanin
g in life. Bud Boughton, featured guest on Expert Access Radio and author of The Missing Peace: Our Search for Security in an Insecure World, discusses how to find what is missing if your life and how to ground yourself.
Instead of always doing things for ourselves, we need to do them for others. We need to look outside ourselves and see how we can share our gifts with others. Every person has God-given gifts that make us special, whether it’s the ability to write, play music or to care for others. We all have things that we do well, and when we are able to use our gifts in such a way to help others, it gives us a feeling of satisfaction and worthiness. When you use those gifts to reach out to others, to help them make their lives better, that’s when you are living deliciously, because you come away with other tremendous feelings for the effort that you have made. It’s not about personal or financial gain; it’s just about doing the right thing.
Do you manage or lead your life?
When you just manage your life, you are just coping. You do whatever you have to do to get through the day and that’s it. When you choose to lead your life, you choose to be honest with yourself about who you are, what gifts you have and what you are capable of doing. Leading your life, not just managing it, means you are proactive and hold yourself to a higher level, whether it’s at your job or something outside of work, such as a volunteer opportunity. Those are the things that when we make choices, have to do with how you will lead your life.
